SUMMER FUN WITH DNA Summer Fun with DNA is a two-week program designed to give students an opportunity to explore the role of a research scientist through hands-on laboratory experiences and daily interaction with a community of working scientists. The program will be taught by Judy Brown and Dr. Eric Schlott. Dr. Schott's research focuses on the use of molecular biology to understand marine systems. The focus of the laboratory program is molecular biology. Students will examine and study organisms on a cellular and molecular level, using state-of-the-art microscopy and classic molecular biology protocols that progress from discovering and exploring enzymes to extracting DNA and analyzing it using gel electrophoresis.
Dates: July 10 to July 21, 2000 Time: 9:30am to 3:30pm, Monday - Friday Teachers: Judy Brown, Ingenuity Project Research Coordinator Dr. Eric Schlott, Visiting Scientist, COMB Location: Center of Marine Biotechnology (COMB) Prerequisite: Open to Ingenuity Middle School Students ONLY For additional information, contact the ingenuity office: The Ingenuity Project |
