Baltimore, MD – The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) awarded a STEM Talent Pipeline educational grant to The Ingenuity Project. Senator Antonio Hayes visited with Ingenuity Poly seniors on November 18, 2022 to congratulate the organization and learn about the students’ independent STEM research discoveries.
“STEM careers are more important than ever as we continue to seek cures and treatments for diseases, many that we don’t even know about yet,” said Senator Antonio Hayes. “The students at The Ingenuity Project are showing that they can be the innovators of tomorrow. With tens of thousands of employment opportunities just here in Maryland, this investment in our young people is greatly appreciated.”
”The Ingenuity Project is grateful for the support of PhRMA,” said Lisette Morris, Ingenuity Project Executive Director. “Their grant will help us provide our off-campus STEM research program to more students. Giving high school students the opportunity to conduct independent research under the mentorship of leading researchers and scientists has proven to be a strong launching pad for studying a STEM field in college and becoming a STEM leader.”
“PhRMA represents the country’s top biopharmaceutical research companies that allow the United States to be a leader in innovation, particularly in the fight to combat COVID-19. Programs like this are an excellent way for students to develop an interest in STEM careers. PhRMA is proud to support The Ingenuity Project and their commitment to offering students quality STEM education opportunities,” said Stami Williams, PhRMA.
