Ingenuity Seniors Claire Wayner and Mercedes Thompson were recent recipients of the Brower Youth Award for their work to make Maryland a plastic-free state. Claire and Mercedes co-founded Baltimore Beeyond Plastic, a youth-led, action oriented organization that aims to reduce plastic pollution in Baltimore. They were inspired to act after learning about the public health impacts that arise from plastic pollution.
The Brower Youth Award recognizes outstanding youth leaders who are making strides in the environmental movement.
