Sarah Avery has been a classroom teacher for 9 years, including time teaching in City schools, Baltimore County Public Schools, and independent schools. She has taught 1st-12th grade and has also taught at UMBC, where she was a faculty research assistant. Sarah has a BS in biology from UNC-Charlotte, a Masters in biology and a Masters in teaching from UMBC. She was awarded the 2024 Outstanding Biology Teacher Award from the National Association of Biology Teachers for the state of Maryland. She enjoys sharing her passion for biology with her students. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, rooting for the Orioles, and spending time at the beach.
