Dr. Weller is a highly accomplished and transformative educational leader dedicated to improving educational systems for equitable outcomes. As Director of Science for Baltimore City Public Schools, she leverages her extensive experience, technical expertise, and deep commitment to racial equity to ensure all students have the opportunity to reach their full potential. Mary’s career spans diverse roles across the education landscape, from classroom teacher to state-level STEM education leader. As a National Board Certified teacher, she brings a strong foundation in effective pedagogy and student-centered learning.
Mary’s research focuses on driving strategic and equity-centered change within large organizations. Her insights are informed by her experience leading impactful STEM initiatives at various levels, from the classroom to the district.
Prior to her work in education, Mary served honorably in the United States Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer, developing strong leadership, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
